Broadway Closes July With Consecutive Wins

Former TCU All-American Lance Broadway closed out the month of July in strong fashion. He followed a win at Indianapolis on July 25th with another impressive outing July 30th against Pawtucket in Buffalo that resulted in a no decision. Lance, who is my second cousin on my mother's side of the family, was pitching out of the Chicago White Sox's bullpen earlier this 2009 season before being traded to the New York Mets. Now an important cog in the Bisons' starting rotation in Buffalo (the Mets' triple-A minor league affiliate), the grandson of my mother's sister Yvonne Broadway toes the rubber every fifth day for the Herd in hopes of getting that desired callup to the bigs once again. He definitely didn't hurt his chances with a pair of strong back-to-back starts in late July. In his winning effort in Indy July 25th, Lance struck out five and walked two while allowing three earned runs to score in the seven strong innings he hurled for the Herd. And although Lance did not figure in the decision July 30th against Pawtucket, he did pitch a strong seven and one-third innings as Buffalo's starter on the mound. He scattered nine hits and allowed only one earned run against Pawtucket, striking out four and walking no one. Lance Broadway, who will celebrate his 26th birthday on the twentieth of this month, started the 2009 baseball season in the starting rotation for the White Sox's triple-A team in Charlotte. He was called up by the White Sox in late April to help out with the ChiSox relief corps but was traded later in May to the Mets for reserve catcher Ramon Castro. He has been toiling on the mound for the Bisons in Buffalo since the May swap for Castro, who was catching Mark Buerhle during his recent perfect game for the White Sox.
Lance Daniel Broadway and his sister Lauren Broadway are the eldest children of my first cousin Lynn Broadway and his former wife Toni. Lance is currently pitching for the Buffalo Bisons, the triple-A club of the New York Mets.

  1. Lance is a piece of dog shit, attacking innocent people in night clubs while in a drunken rage. He will get what's coming to him, I promise ;)
